Coffee, Community, and a Future Worth Fighting For: Saturday, June 22
Presented by: Caleb Nicholes, Owner and Alex Stoffregen, Sourcing Coordinator, Kickapoo Coffee Roasters
Date: Saturday, June 22 at 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Location: Yellow Flag Tent
Join Kickapoo Coffee's co-owner, Caleb Nicholes, for an in-depth conversation and tasting exploring the complex world of coffee and its tenuous future. Learn how we can all support a more sustainable coffee supply chain––from the farm, all the way to your morning cup. Caleb will share the realities of coffee production, the socioeconomic inequities producers face and why Kickapoo Coffee launched a pioneering initiative called "Raise the Bar," which increased the minimum price they pay for coffee to an unprecedented high in the industry. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to engage in topics ranging from fair compensation for producers to the impacts of climate change on the future of coffee. Attendees will also get to taste a variety of coffees from around the world and learn about how origin, micro-climate and processing methods impact coffee quality and flavors.
No early bird or member prices apply to extended workshops.
