Rainbow's End
All TRCCS Events will take place in Rainbow’s End
(French!) Family Movement: Fri, June 23th, 1 p.m.
Come join French Teacher and yoga instructor Maud Mangin for this family friendly yoga class and learn the names of animal poses in French! No experience necessary, space is limited. At TRCCS and TRVCS, part of becoming a conscientious world citizen is developing the awareness of other cultures via language. We know that a young child’s brain is malleable and it is the perfect time to create new and unique synapses via language immersion classes. Introducing World Languages at a young age is one of the unique and exceptional elements of our pedagogical approach to education. Come join the fun and get your wiggles out.
Wet on Wet Watercolor Painting: Fri, June 23rd, at 3 p.m.
Join us in this watercolor painting class using a technique that is commonly practiced in Waldorf classrooms across the globe. We use all natural paints to create beautiful abstract color combination creations. This approach to watercolor painting begins in our classrooms in Early Childhood and evolves to become more refined through 8th grade. Please join our staff in this relaxing and “fool proof” method of exploring color and form. Kids of all ages are welcome.
How to Crochet with Loops and Rounds: Sat, June 24th, 10 a.m.
Join Loops and Rounds Crochet for this engaging and useful demonstration where you will learn basic crochet techniques to get you started off on a new and relaxing hobby. Children 9 years and older are welcome to join independently, while young children can practice with their adults. Space is limited, first come first serve.
Crochet is taught in our school and other Waldorf schools in second grade. Students who have already been taught to knit, explore another form of handwork. Handwork in Waldorf schools is taught to engage the “will forces” and manual dexterity of children. When a child learns new skills that require dedication and patience, they learn the process of applying themselves and approaching new tasks with curiosity and confidence. We emphasize the importance of natural fibers and teach children about the process from sheep shearing to the final woolen product. Students develop an appreciation for where everyday objects come from.
Loops and Rounds Crochet is a local business run by Sanya Karbowski, a parent of two students at the Tomorrow River Community Charter School. Sanya’s love of crochet began when she was a teenager and evolved into making gifts for friends and family. She loves making small toys, including play food-a perfect addition to any early childhood play collection.
Sing along and Circle Time: Sun, June 25th, at 2 p.m.
Join our TRCCS staff and students for a teacher-led sing along and circle time where we will play circle games to engage the whole being. At TRCCS children practice gross motor skills and singing to awaken and enliven their bodies in preparation for more intellectual learning. In Waldorf classrooms we see that balancing movement and arts with intellectual pursuits helps to support a balanced and conscientious development. Circle time fosters meaningful social interactions and is practiced through the elementary grades.
